A secure, resilient network for frontline support
A network transformation combined security, switching, wireless and smart cameras, giving a small IT team better visibility and control.
- Network migration planned around service availability
- Outside working hours
- Central management through Cisco Meraki Dashboard
- Cloud visibility
- Reported in the client’s project feedback
- On time and on budget
The Client
The Passage supports people experiencing homelessness or insecure housing. Its Westminster resource centre provides practical community support, while accommodation and progression services help people move towards a sustainable home.
Its work includes homelessness prevention, meals, health support, employment training and advice, alongside accommodation services and community integration.
The Challenge
Staff, guests and service users needed a more secure and resilient network. The infrastructure had to support business-critical applications while giving the IT team clear visibility of connected users and devices.
Fluid reviewed the existing network, firewall policies, LAN deployment and wireless security to define an enterprise-grade replacement that a small internal team could operate.
Our Delivery
Review and design
Fluid worked with the IT team to define security and operational requirements, including resilient core and access switching, security appliances and wireless access.
Secure connectivity and cameras
The solution combined Cisco Meraki security, switching and wireless platforms with identity-based controls, policy enforcement and smart cameras.
Migration with minimal impact
Equipment was configured and deployed around operational needs. Migration activities took place outside normal working hours so critical services remained available when needed.
Validation and handover
Pre- and post-deployment wireless assessments checked staff and guest connectivity. Knowledge transfer helped the IT team operate the new environment, with support for business-critical applications.
The Results
The completed transformation gave The Passage control and visibility through Cisco Meraki Dashboard, bringing network management into one central cloud platform.
The client’s feedback records delivery on time and on budget. The original story also describes further infrastructure projects at additional locations following the main-site transformation.
