Housing and social infrastructure · Case Study
An independent WAN review across a London estate
Technical discovery, bandwidth analysis and procurement support helped the housing association review its managed WAN and choose a route forward.
- Part of the original network estate
- Three main offices
- London locations included in the review
- 45 remote sites
- Decisions informed by requirements and procurement
- Phased consultancy
The Client
Notting Hill Housing was a London housing association with a large property portfolio. This case study retains the customer name used for the original project, which covered three main offices and 45 remote sites.
The Challenge
The organisation wanted an independent, impartial review of its managed WAN. It needed to decide how to replace or renew services while accounting for application demand, site usage, growth and resilience.
Technical recommendations also needed to fit the organisation’s procurement processes and its internal ways of working.
Our Delivery
Requirements discovery
Fluid captured technical requirements and reviewed usage and application traffic across the estate.
Bandwidth and resilience analysis
Site bandwidth profiles considered existing applications, future growth and redundancy requirements.
Procurement coordination
Fluid worked with the technical and internal procurement teams to assess suppliers and the available procurement routes. The original engagement considered Open OJEU and framework routes used at the time.
A phased engagement
The work was organised in phases so the association could assess the approach and outputs before continuing to the next stage.
The Results
The engagement gave Notting Hill Housing an informed basis for WAN supplier and service decisions, bringing technical assessment and procurement together.
Client feedback highlights Fluid’s ability to work with both technical and procurement functions. The published account also describes a subsequent LAN and wireless refresh at one office.
“Fluid has worked effectively with both our technical and internal procurement functions.”
Project Technologies
Platforms and technologies used in the original engagement.
- WAN and MPLS connectivity
- Cisco switches
- Cisco Meraki wireless access points
This case study describes the original customer project. Technologies, licensing arrangements and outcomes reflect that engagement.
